Music:

The general music curriculum will:

* Teach students to sing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music

* Teach students to perform on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music

* Expose students to composing and arranging music within specified guidelines

* Expose students to improvising melodies, variations, and accompaniments

* Help students read and notate music

* Develop students’ ears by listening to, analyzing, and describing music

* Develop the skills to evaluate music and music performances

* Help students understand relationships between music, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts

* Help students understand music in relation to history and culture

* Instill a passion for music, worship, and service
